ACAP Summative Testing

Spring 2026

March 18, 2026

Dear Pick Families,

Beginning on Tuesday, March 31st, classes will begin testing with the Alabama Comprehensive Assessment Program (ACAP). ACAP Summative is a computer-based, criterion-referenced assessment, designed to measure student progress on the Alabama Courses of Study Standards. The assessment is administered to students in Grades 2-8, once a year in the Spring, and it includes the content areas of English Language Arts (ELA), Math, and Science (Grades 4, 6, and 8 only). The tentative schedule below gives more information about which weeks each grade level will test. Our Pick Leaders have been learning grade level standards all year, and we know our students are ready and prepared to show all that they’ve learned!

Digital Devices

Digital devices are prohibited from the testing environment. If your student has a device, it is recommended to keep the device at home. If any student brings a digital device to school, it must be turned in before each assessment.

Auburn City Schools Digital Device Policy
Students shall not possess any digital device within the testing room when participating in Alabama Comprehensive Assessment Program (ACAP) testing. The possession of a digital device by students participating in ACAP testing is strictly prohibited during the administration of a test. The ONLY exception to this policy is for students who have been pre-approved by the Building Test Coordinator or the Principal to have a digital device that is necessary for the health and/or well-being of the student (medical purposes only). If students are in possession of a digital device that is within their reach during the administration of an ACAP test, the device will be confiscated and, if the appropriate administrator determines that there is reasonable suspicion that the device was used to capture, record, or share test information or to facilitate cheating on the test, it may be subject to search pursuant to ACS policy for any information directly related to the ACAP test being administered. Additionally, the student will be dismissed from testing immediately and the test may be invalidated in accordance with ACAP policy. Violation(s) may result in disciplinary action by ACS in accordance with the ACS’ disciplinary policy.

To prepare for this exciting and busy season, here are some ways we can make sure our leaders are test-ready each day:

  • Please ensure all students arrive on time, especially on testing days. We want to make sure they can test with their peers and follow their regular schedules for the rest of the school day. If they are not present during the day the assessment is scheduled, they will be scheduled for a make-up session when they return to school in a separate testing group from their homeroom.
  • Please ensure your child gets a good night’s sleep.
  • Have your child eat a healthy breakfast at home or at school. Our breakfast time in the classroom ends at 7:30 when the tardy bell rings.
  • Gently encourage them to do their very best!
