Information on Bullying
Bullying (as per student handbook)-Bullying of any form, verbal, physical or written, will not be tolerated at Pick Elementary School.  Students are encouraged to report bullying to their classroom teacher, the school counselor or administration as soon as it occurs.  Students who participate in bullying will be disciplined on an individual basis at the discretion of the administration. There is a zero tolerance for students who make any form of threat to other students, staff or themselves.  Students who choose to bully other students will be disciplined for such behavior at school. 

Aggressive behavior that is intentional, repeated over time, and involves an imbalance of power or strength.  Bullying can take man forms, such as hitting or punching, teasing or name-calling, intimidation through gestures, social exclusion and sending or positing messages or pictures by cell phones or online (also known as cyberbullying).

In counseling class, as part of the curriculum, students are taught to identify bullying in all its forms and learn different strategies for dealing with it, including getting adult help.  Click here for a copy of the PES bullying plan.  This plan is taught and given to every student, and includes strategies parents can support and additional online resources. 

Students are taught that they can report to any adult on campus, both verbally or through anonymous written bully reports that are available in various locations on campus (including the front office and counselor's classroom). Click here for an example of a bullying report.
